Placki (Polish Potato Pancakes)


3lb.potatoes
1onion
1egg
2Tbsp.flour
salt
ground pepper
cooking oil for frying

1.Peel and rinse potatoes, finely grate, then lightly press out some of the water.
2.Add grated onion, 1 egg, flour, salt and pepper and mix.
3.Heat cooking oil or lard in a frying pan until very hot, fry flattened dollops of potato mixture quickly on both sides.

Best if served right from the frying pan, with sour cream.
May be served with coleslaw or mushroom sauce.
If you wish to serve the pancakes with sugar or jam, omit the onion and pepper.
