Random Trivia For This Title:

  • The Codpiece Topology: When Leslie (Sara Gilbert) said that only Loop Quantum Gravity calculates the entropy of black holes, this is inaccurate, as string theory has its own predictions for the black hole entropy problem.
  • During his appearance on Inside the Actors Studio Jim Parsons revealed his three favorite scenes: Sheldon receiving a gift from Penny (Kaley Cuoco) - a napkin signed and used by Leonard Nimoy, Sheldon presenting Amy (Mayim Bialik) the relationship agreement, and Sheldon drinking Long Island Iced Tea for the first time.
  • The Maternal Capacitance: Christine Baranski received an Emmy nomination for her performance as Leonard's icy mother in this episode.
  • The Terminator Decoupling: The episode was originally intended to feature Katee Sackhoff.
  • The Euclid Alternative: In the reverse camera view of the apartment (when the group gathers for Sheldon (Jim Parsons)'s intervention) Sheldon and Leonard (Johnny Galecki)'s desks are placed flush against the wall. In the normal angle, their desks appear to be in the middle of the room.
  • The Panty Piņata Polarization: Analeigh Tipton makes a second appearance on the show in episode 9.8, The Big Bang Theory: The Mystery Date Observation (2015), as a beautiful woman who shares Sheldon (Jim Parsons)'s interests. She meets him after answering a dating ad and successfully answering a series of hard puzzles to meet him. Unfortunately she is a few minutes past the deadline so Sheldon rejects her.
  • The Cooper-Nowitzki Theorem: Guest star Riki Lindhome would later team up with Kate Micucci, another The Big Bang Theory (2007) alumnus, to form the musical duo Garfunkel and Oates.
  • The Euclid Alternative: While Leonard (Johnny Galecki) is watching Sheldon (Jim Parsons) drive the simulator if you listen closely you can hear Leonard say Jim, which is Sheldon's real name.
  • The Panty Piņata Polarization: The two models who open the door for Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg) are Analeigh Tipton and [?] Samantha Potter, who were actual contestants on [America's Next Top Model]. In their cycle, they placed third and second, respectively.
  • The Panty Piņata Polarization: Klingon words used in this episode, and their English translations:
    • poH - period of time
    • potlh - something important
    • puchpa' - washroom (Note: mispronounced as puHpa')
    • chor - belly
    • neHmaH - neutral zone
    • bIlughbe' - meaning "you are wrong". Sheldon's reaction to Howard's "kreplach".
    • Qapla' - literally "success"; Sheldon uses this word to announce the starting of a game, probably meaning "(wish you) success".
    • Qochbe' - to agree
    • loH - administration
    • maH - ten
    • chergh - to tolerate
The correct spelling of "Qochbe'" (klingon for "To agree") is with a "Qo", not a "Ko".
  • The Lizard-Spock Expansion: The game of "Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock" was invented by a software engineer named Sam Kass, who outlined the rules and hand gestures on his website in 1998. He, however, called it "Rock Paper Scissors Spock Lizard".
  • The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis: Owing to his incompetence at riding David Underhill (Michael Trucco)'s motorcycle, Leonard tumbles off it and it falls on him, resulting in him limping for the rest of the episode. In fact, Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard, is a keen motorcyclist and owns a Harley-Davidson.
  • The Friendship Algorithm: The scene where Sheldon (Jim Parsons) tries to befriend the little girl in the bookshop is used in a training film by London's Metropolitan Police. It is designed to show how people with social disabilities can sometimes be unintentionally inappropriate.
  • The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis: The napkin really is signed by Leonard Nimoy. A photograph exists of Jim Parsons holding it up.
  • The Lizard-Spock Expansion: When Howard (Simon Helberg) is leaving Stephanie (Sara Rue) a message the second time, he tells her to claim she's half Jewish "On her mother's side". This is because, Judaism is matrilineal.
