Synopsis: A love triangle with a tail heads into the woods one night and everything changes.


Reaction: This is a great version of Shakespeare's classic comedy. Kevin Kline is hilarious.

  • Kevin Kline wasn't happy playing the cartoonish figure of Bottom. He felt that he was better suited to playing the regal Oberon.
  • The cast features three Oscar-winners (Kevin Kline, Sam Rockwell and Christian Bale) and three nominees (Michelle Pfeiffer, Stanley Tucci and David Strathairn).
  • The action of the play is transplanted from Athens, Greece to the fictional Italian city of Monte Athens.
  • This was Michelle Pfeiffer's first attempt at Shakespeare since her debut as an actress in a New York stage production of Twelfth Night.
  • Take a look at what some of the other performers are rehearsing while the Mechanicals are waiting for word from the Duke. One group of players is rehearsing the Greek tragedy Oedipus Rex and another pair of players are rehearsing a scene from William Shakespeare's play Othello.
