Trivia that mentions this person:
Blade [1998]
  • When David S. Goyer first pitched the idea of doing a Blade movie, the executives of New Line felt there were only three actors who could possible do the role: Wesley Snipes, Denzel Washington and Laurence Fishburne, but in Goyer's mind, Snipes was always the perfect choice for the character of Blade. However, LL Cool J was briefly considered for the part.
    Blade II [2002]
  • Wesley Snipes, was not always available for each day of filming for this movie, which came out in 2002. During 2002, Wesley starred in 3 other films aside from Blade 2. Instead of waiting for Wesley to become available, the crew shot another actor (who was not Wesley's stunt double) for scenes where it was not necessary to see Wesley's face. The first scene, being where Blade, Scud and Nyssa are riding in the helicopter to meet Damaskinos. The second, was after Nyssa performed an autopsy on the dead reaper and confronts Blade in his quarters about his attitude toward the Bloodpack.
    Blade: Trinity [2004]
  • According to Patton Oswalt, the production was so troubled that Wesley Snipes refused to speak to David S. Goyer and often would not come out of his trailer. Wesley Snipes and Kris Kristofferson, who at the time had become good friends after working on the two previous Blade-installments, were reportedly unhappy with this movie and with David S. Goyer's script decisions. They felt that too many new characters were added to the universe, and that Blade did not need any sidekicks besides Whistler.
    Blade: House of Chthon [2006]
  • Wesley Snipes was offered the chance to reprise his role as Blade but declined.
    The Expendables [2010]
  • Wesley Snipes was offered the role of Hale Caesar but couldn't accept because, due to his tax problems, he wasn't allowed to leave the United States without the court's approval. The role was taken by Forest Whitaker and rewritten for Whitaker, but he was forced to leave the film due to a scheduling conflict. The role was then offered to rapper [?] 50 Cent who turned the role down to focus on his music career. After a few days, Sylvester Stallone decided to cast former NFL player Terry Crews in the part. In 2014 (after finishing his prison sentence), Snipes ended up appearing in The Expendables 3.
    The Expendables 3 [2014]
  • When Toll Road (Randy Couture) asks Doc (Wesley Snipes) why he got locked up Doc replies: "Tax evasion". In 2008 Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion. He served from 2010 to 2013.
