Reaction:
Good fun. Not as excellent as the original, but still fun.

Trivia:
`~14878~`, who directed the Pixar short !~pixar_v2~!~Presto~!, was originally set to direct Monsters University, before being replaced with `~9868~`. STUDIO TRADEMARK: Pixar's !~pixar_v1~!~Luxo Jr.~! ball appears as a drawing on the stone wall at the beginning of the first Scare Games task. WILHELM SCREAM: As Mike runs over a student with the floor waxer. When waking up after sleeping on Sully's hand Mike is heard saying "I know you're a princess and I'm just a stable boy.." The line refers to one of `~8921~`'s previous screen credits as Miracle Max in !~prncss_bride~!~The Princess Bride~!, a story focusing on the love between a princess and a stable boy. This along with @%Cars 2%@ are the only Pixar films not nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. What these two films also have in common is that both of their predecessors, !~monsters_inc~!~Monsters Inc.~! and @%Cars%@ are the only Pixar films not to win. They lost to !~shrek_1~!~Shrek~! and @%Happy Feet%@ respectively. The School of Scaring building is a visual homage to the famous `~H.P. Lovecraft~` monster, Cthulhu. The green central dome is clearly designed in the shape of a head (with skylights placed strategically as eyes) and the columns flanking the main entrance (which itself is lined with teeth) bear a strong resemblance to Cthulhu's mouth-tentacles. When Sully enters Mike & Randall's room with Fear Tech's pig, a motivational poster can be seen above Randall's bed that reads "Winds of Change: Shh... Can you hear them?". Randall says a similar same line to Mike in the locker room during !~monsters_inc~!~Monsters, Inc.~!. `~8925~` makes his traditional Pixar film appearance, reprising his role as Yeti (a.k.a. The Abominable Snowman) from !~monsters_inc~!~Monsters, Inc.~!. Yeti's job in the Monsters Inc. mail room is a nod to John's famous role as postman Cliff Clavin in @##Cheers##@. Yeti warns Mike and Sully that tampering with the mail is punishable by exile to the human world, comically foreshadowing his exile in !~monsters_inc~!~Monsters, Inc.~!. Despite being offered the role of Dean Hardscrabble outright, `~177~` requested that she audition for the role anyway to ensure that the film's makers were satisfied with her performance. There is a line in the first !~monsters_inc~!~Monsters, Inc.~! where Mike says that Sully has been jealous of his looks since the fourth grade. Since this movie was going to show Mike and Sully meeting in college, it obviously contradicts that line. Director `~9868~` admitted that there was some conflict behind that and even had one treatment show Sully and Mike meeting in the fourth grade then skipping ahead to their university years. `~15030~` (director of the first Monsters, Inc.) and `~4550~` personally told Scanlon that they loved that he was honoring that one line said in the movie, but he "...had to do what was best for the story". As a result, the line was put aside and Sully and Mike would be shown meeting in university. As a joke, Scanlon said that Mikes line in the first movie is "an old monster expression." SPOILER:An early version of the story had Mike and Sulley stuck in the human world much earlier in the film, but this was scrapped to focus more on the monster world, so the human world was used for the climax, raising the stakes and allowing Mike and Sulley to solidify their friendship.:SPOILER As the students enter the School of Scaring building, they all touch the front paw of the statue in front of the building. This is a reference to a tradition at Harvard University where students touch the left foot of the statue of `~John Harvard~` for good luck. As a result, the foot of the statue of Harvard is shiny and polished down. The animators included that onto the statue in the movie as well. During the "Don't Scare the Teen" challenge, one of the traps quotes Ariel from !~lil_mermaid~!~The Little Mermaid~!: "But daddy, I love him!"
