`~John Doe~`
Edit cast list for:
Ghost in the Shell (2017)?
Trivia:
`~6707~` worked on this film between !~cap_amer_3~!~Captain America: Civil War (2016)~! and !~avengers_infinity~!~Avengers: Infinity War (2018)~!. `~Sam Riley~` and `~Jim Sturgess~` were both in talks for the role of Kuze. `~16119~` was considered for the role of Major. `~Matthias Schoenaerts~` was considered for the role of Batou. When released in Japan, this film actually received better reviews than the original @%Ghost in the Shell (1995)%@. The Ghost in the Shell franchise is fairly niche in Japan but many fans considered this to be on par with the original. Despite `~13662~` getting top billing with the rest of the cast, it appears that she is nowhere to be seen in this film, which confused audiences. Her face was actually the model for the robotic Geisha faces. However, while the background Geisha are played by stuntwomen and dancers wearing the masks resembling her, Fukushima herself also plays the iconic red-robed Geisha (revealed in behind-the-scenes videos). `~6707~` does not wear a wig in this film, her own hair was dyed black with blue tips. The character Dr. Ouelet was originally written as a male character, but was rewritten as female to accommodate `~14822~` who impressed the filmmakers at her audition. `~18831~` was very enthusiastic about this because he liked the idea of adding some maternity to the character. `~Mamoru Oshii~`, the Japanese director of the original @%Ghost in the Shell (1995)%@, has spoken out against the whitewashing controversy surrounding `~6707~` playing Major despite not being Japanese. He gave her his blessing and said "I believe having Scarlett play Motoko was the best possible casting for this movie." For the Japanese dub of the film, the voice actors from @%Ghost in the Shell (1995)%@ - `~Atsuko Tanaka~` (the Major), `~1387~` (Batou) and `~Kôichi Yamadera~` (Togusa) - reprise their roles. The Geisha robots wore full head masks created by Weta Workshop and modeled after Japanese actress `~13662~`. The opening or 'exploding' of the Geisha's heads was mechanical rather than CGI. The inner workings of the heads were modeled after clockwork technology. Several scenes in this film are exact in visual comparison to the original @%Ghost in the Shell (1995)%@. Some parts shown in the city are even exact re-creations of the original artwork. In an establishing shot of the city, a Pan Am advert can be seen in the top left. The bankrupt airlines inclusion is a reference to !~bladerunner~!~Blade Runner (1982)~! which also had an in-film advert for them. SPOILER:During the Spider Tank battle as the tank closes in on a damaged Kuze (`~18837~`), he points his finger at the tank as if it were a gun. This is a reference to the anime @%Cowboy Bebop (1998)%@ where the main character, Spike Spiegal, does the same.:SPOILER
