`~John Doe~`
Edit cast list for:
Loki (2021)?
Trivia:
Rather than read Marvel comics to prepare for the role of Agent Mobius, `~1516~` instead had `~11862~` explain the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe to him. In the comics, each agent of the Time Variance Authority resembled Marvel Comics writer/editor `~Mark Gruenwald~`. This was a joke as Gruenwald's job as editor was to maintain continuity across the Marvel Universe. The TV series is intended to have a major impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, serving as a link to @%Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)%@ and @%Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)%@. The animated mascot Miss Minutes is inspired by the animated character Mr DNA from !~jp_1~!~Jurassic Park (1993)~!. According to `~11862~`, the series title shifting between various fonts refers to "integrating the disparate fragments of the many selves that Loki can be." `~19812~` had become a mother before filming started. To make it easy for her to nurse her child between takes, concealed zippers were added to the chest area of her costume. `~1516~` compared Mobius's relationship with Loki to the main characters' relationship in the comedies @%48 Hrs. (1982)%@, @%Catch Me If You Can (2002)%@ and @%Good Will Hunting (1997)%@. `~19804~` based the Time Variance Authority on her own experience serving as a temp worker. It's well known that Marvel is strict about spoilers getting out. `~1516~` revealed he 'let it slip' that he grew a mustache for his character, Mobius. He said later that day, he received an ominous text from an unknown number saying "Strike 1". He said it might have been `~Kevin Feige~` using a burner phone and made sure he was careful when talking about Loki. The show creators cite a wide variety of influences on the show: the sci-fi films @%Brazil (1985)%@, @%Metropolis (1927)%@, !~hitchhiker~!~The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)~!, !~th_alien~!~Alien (1979)~!, !~bladerunner~!~Blade Runner (1982)~! and !~jp_1~!~Jurassic Park (1993)~!; the crime films @%The Silence of the Lambs (1991)%@, @%Se7en (1995)%@, @%Zodiac (2007)%@ and @%Catch Me If You Can (2002)%@; the films of `~Quentin Tarantino~`; the action film !~armageddon~!~Armageddon (1998)~!; the surreal kid show @##Teletubbies (1997)##@; the fantasy !~story_1~!~Toy Story (1995)~!; the adventure comedy @##Rick and Morty (2013)##@; and the dramas @##Mad Men (2007)##@ and @%Before Sunrise (1995)%@. The first Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ show to be renewed for a second season. Concept art shows that Rocket Raccoon was planned to make a cameo appearance as a variant while Loki is being transferred through the TVA during the first episode. SPOILER:When Loki and Agent Mobius travel to ancient Pompeii, Loki speaks in Latin. `~11862~` can fluently speak Latin.:SPOILER Glorious Purpose -> `~19804~` took care to showcase the Time Theatre video of Loki's life not as a simple montage, but as a play with actions and consequences. Glorious Purpose -> At one point while trying to escape, Loki threatens an office worker by saying, "I'll gut you like a fish, Casey." This is a reference to !~scream~!~Scream (1996)~! in which a girl named Casey receives the same threat. Glorious Purpose -> The Time Theatre sequence was inspired by the interfaces in !~minority_rep~!~Minority Report (2002)~!. SPOILER:Glorious Purpose -> As the series depicts, it turns out Loki was the infamous `~D.B. Cooper~`. Cooper was the alias of an airline hijacker who demanded $200,000 in ransom from the U.S. government (having passed a note to a stewardess that he had a bomb in a suitcase) and then parachuted out of the back of the plane while still in mid-air. Just like Loki in the series, Cooper was said to have worn dark sunglasses, a well-tailored suit and was never caught. One difference in how the series depicts the event is that it actually occurred in the pouring rain.:SPOILER SPOILER:Lamentis -> Private Hudson and Corporal Hicks are a tribute to `~402~` and `~1098~`'s characters in !~th_aliens~!~Aliens (1986)~!.:SPOILER SPOILER:The Nexus Event -> The subtitles for the post-credit scene have Loki ask if he's gone to 'Hel' instead of 'Hell." This is not a spelling mistake. In Nordic mythology the world of the dead is called Hel.:SPOILER SPOILER:The Nexus Event -> The scene where Sif and Loki interact is based on the Norse legend in which Loki cuts off her hair. In the legends, this eventually puts Thor on a quest that leads to the creation of Mjolnir.:SPOILER Journey Into Mystery -> The title of the episode comes from the comic book series @#"Journey into Mystery"#@. Loki made his first appearance in issue 85 (October 1962). The original version of this series was renamed @#"The Mighty Thor"#@ at issue 126. The original title was revived for various purposes such as a horror anthology in the 1970s and various spin-off titles feature characters from the Thor series in the 1990s, and 2000s. SPOILER:Journey Into Mystery -> The frog version of Thor, also known as Throg, is briefly seen when the variants descend into their hideout. He is trapped in a jar labeled "T365" (a reference to the issue of Thor in which the frog version first appeared) and trying to reach Mjolnir, which is buried next to him but out of his reach.:SPOILER SPOILER:Journey Into Mystery -> While 'Classic' Loki (`~16822~`) is creating his fortress illusion, a modified version of @#"Ride of the Valkyries"#@ by `~Richard Wagner~` is heard. This is from his collection of operas known as @%the "Ring" cycle%@ and makes heavy use of Norse mythology.:SPOILER SPOILER:Journey Into Mystery -> The makers have admitted that `~6632~`'s satirical sci-fi novel series <a href=/Books.php?book=249>'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'</a> was a great influence. The Citadel at the End of Time that houses the real Time-Keeper seems to be directly inspired by the second book, <a href=/Books.php?book=244>'The Restaurant at the End of the Universe'</a>, where the protagonists are looking for the Ruler of the Universe. In an attempt to arrange a meeting, they end up in the titular restaurant, which is periodically transported in time to the very distant future, where guests can dine while having a nice view of the end of time.:SPOILER For All Time. Always. -> Originally, He Who Remains was supposed to be an entirely separate character unrelated to Kang the Conqueror. However, the producers liked `~17890~` so much that they also cast him as Kang and rewrote He Who Remains to be one of that character's variants. SPOILER:For All Time. Always. -> He Who Remains tells Loki and Sylvie that his Variants are known by many names, one of which was "Conqueror." This is a reference to Kang the Conqueror, who is confirmed to be in @%Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)%@, with `~17890~` continuing the role.:SPOILER SPOILER:For All Time. Always. -> The first appearance of `~17890~` as "He Who Remains", or the other version of "Kang The Conqueror" - the next major villain of the MCU post-Thanos.:SPOILER
