`~John Doe~`
Edit cast list for:
Aladdin (2019)?
Trivia:
`~Rayane Bensetti~` auditioned for the role of Aladdin. `~Priyom Haider~` was a strong consideration for Aladdin because of his look and physique to be ideal and has played the character in different Aladdin projects. `~1261~` reprises his roles as Abu and the Cave of Wonders from the original !~aladdin~!~Aladdin (1992)~!, making him the first cast member from a Disney animated feature to play the same character(s) in the live-action remake. `~7085~` would later follow suit in @%The Lion King (2019)%@. In the "Friend Like Me" number, the Carpet does the Carlton dance from `~7375~`'s comedy @##The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990)##@. During the scene when Aladdin asks Genie to "make him a prince", Genie produces an actual prince in the background. The prince is dressed in colors of pink & lime green, the same colors in the title logo & a nod to `~7375~`'s comedy @##The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990)##@. So, the Genie created the Fresh Prince for Aladdin. Sir `~2597~` campaigned for the role of Jafar. He had previously turned down the role in !~aladdin~!~Aladdin (1992)~! and has regretted it ever since. `~7375~` said that he was "terrified" while playing the character, but that "[he] found a lane that pays homage" to `~923~`' performance in the original !~aladdin~!~Aladdin (1992)~!, while still making the role "[his] own thing". The "Prince Ali" song has the lyric "Sunday Salaam" changed to "Friday Salaam". This is actually accurate, as the holy day for Muslims is Friday not Sunday. `~7375~` recorded "Friend Like Me" on the first day he met with the composers. `~12983~` chose `~7375~` to be Genie because he believed Smith could give a performance as good as the late `~923~`, but not similar: "Just the flavor of the character would be different enough and unique enough that it would be in a different lane, versus trying to compete." `~7375~`'s first Disney Movie. `~418~` was the original choice for the Genie but at the time he was involved in a much publicized lawsuit so couldn't commit to any long term work. `~12983~` was primarily interested in doing the film because it was the Disney story he was closest to: "My stories are really about street hustlers. That's what I know how to do. And Aladdin is a classic street hustler who makes good." He also decided to do a children's film for his five children. There were rumors that `~11931~` would be reprising his role as Iago from the original franchise. However, it was later confirmed that `~5483~` would be taking up the role, to the disappointment of many fans. `~Gabriel Iglesias~` was in the running to play the Genie. `~3113~` was rumored for the role of Jafar, but this caused another outcry in an ongoing debate among viewers about Hollywood's perceived whitewashing practices (which had peaked with the casting of `~6707~` in @%Ghost in the Shell (2017)%@). Hardy was reportedly director `~12983~`'s preferred choice for the role, but later stated that there was not truth to the rumors that he would play the role. `~17258~` was later cast as Jafar. Pro wrestler/WWE Superstar `~Mustafa Ali Adeel Alam~` campaigned to play Aladdin. `~Dev Patel~`, `~Avan Jogia~` and `~16549~` were considered to play Aladdin. `~Jade Thirlwall~` and `~Tara Sutaria~` were considered for the role of Jasmine. Dutch actor `~Achraf Koutet~` and American actor `~George Kosturos~` had tested for the role of Aladdin before Canadian actor `~18094~` was cast.
