Trivia:
Before `~1444~` accepted the role of Allen Bauer, it had already been turned down by `~1583~`, `~5989~` and `~9116~`. At the time of filming `~11316~` was extremely shy about her body. Director `~1440~` has mentioned that she wore both band-aids and makeup over her nipples to conceal them. `~4613~` was considered for the lead role. `~11316~` is a vegetarian, and so refused to eat real lobster for the restaurant scene. The crew scooped out the insides of real, cooked lobsters and made up a thick, tofu-like paste to fill the shells - this is what Hannah ate when she chewed into the lobsters. Director `~1440~` said in an interview for @##Biography##@ that she cried after each take over the deaths of the lobsters for their shells. This was the first film to be released under the `~5006~` Productions's new Touchstone Films label, which was created in order to allow the studio to release more adult-oriented fare. When Madison is at Bloomingdales at the Electrical department - she passes one of the televisions which is playing Disney's !~black_hole~!~The Black Hole~!. Credited with introducing the girl's name Madison, which has since become one of the most popular names for newborn girls in the early 21st century. Before `~11316~` accepted the role of Madison, it had already been turned down by `~1730~`, `~Melanie Griffith~` and `~8895~`. `~Tatum O'Neal~` had also been offered the role of Madison but declined as did `~4255~` and `~14107~`. `~4614~` auditioned for the role, but turned it down in order to play a character in @%The Hotel New Hampshire%@. `~Rosanna Arquette~` auditioned for the role of Madison, but had to back out. `~9142~` reportedly turned down an offer to play Madison, in order to study French Literature at the Princeton University. `~Debra Winger~` also reportedly wanted the role of Madison, but `~1440~` turned her down. The Scene at the Racquetball court where `~6674~` serves and the ball hits him in the head was done in one take. The crew expected to be there all day to do that shot so when he did it on one take, the whole crew clapped.
