Synopsis:
After he's laid off, a husband switches roles with his wife. She returns to the workforce, and he becomes a stay-at-home dad, a job he has no clue how to do.
Reaction:
Funny. Relatable. Michael Keaton is wonderful and Teri Garr works with him just right. This is a movie to grow up watching.

Trivia:
`~Ted Kotcheff~` was originally slated to direct. According to `~6502~`, the shot of `~1667~` knocking him out was done in one take. `~1440~` was asked to direct, but he turned it down in order to make !~splash~!~Splash (1984)~!. `~948~`, `~Jane Curtin~`, `~Farrah Fawcett~`, and `~13087~` were considered for Caroline Butler. `~4241~`, `~5962~`, `~5379~`, and `~1583~` were considered for Jack Butler. The chain on the chainsaw appears not to move, even though the engine is revved. This is because the chain-break is engaged, which is a safety feature on all modern chainsaws, that doesn't allow the chain to move, even when the engine is revved at a high rpm. First movie for `~1667~`, where he was top billed. The premise came about when `~4239~` recounted to `~8621~` about a disastrous experience he had looking after his two children in the absence of his wife, which Shuler found hilarious. After asking if that could make a good movie, she replied that "it sure sounds funny to me". Hughes wrote the film, and flew to Los Angeles to re-write the script with Shuler. Part of a mini-cycle of Hollywood role-reversal comedies of the 1980s. The films include !~mrmom~!~Mr. Mom (1983)~!, @%Baby Boom (1987)%@, and @%3 Men and a Baby (1987)%@. `~7438~`, `~2081~`, and `~1668~` were considered for the role of Ron Richardson. `~1667~` turned down !~splash~!~Splash (1984)~! to do this movie. First major film role for `~1045~` after a twenty-year hiatus. `~George Segal~` was considered for Jack. Like all `~4239~` movies `~10824~` has a cameo as the cashier in the grocery store. `~1243~` was considered for the role of Ron Richardson `~3775~`'s first Hollywood film role.
