Synopsis:
19th Century Great Britain - The Industrial Revolution brings both the promise and fear of change. Progressive Dorothea Brooke marries the elderly scholar Casaubon. Enter Will Ladislaw. Doctor Lydgate arrives, is swept into town politics and becomes enamored of the beautiful Rosamond Vincy. The seeds are sown for an epic tale of passion, disillusionment and blackmail.
Reaction:
Well done, but at times this thing seems to move a bit slowly.

Trivia:
Two days before filming the Rome museum scene, the production team learned that permission to film in a historic palazzo was rescinded for political reasons. The team scrambled to find an alternate location in time to keep the shoot on schedule, and found such a place in the Palazzo Doria-Pamphili. They later learned that this was the very place where `~765~` met the man on whom she based the character of Will Ladislaw, the man she eventually married. The final score composed by `~8668~`. He died shortly before the premiere. The last TV acting role of Sir `~7908~`.
