Synopsis:
Three anthropomorphic chimps travel back to 20th century Earth after witnessing the destruction of Earth.
Reaction:
I personally feel this is the low point of the original series, though there are some good scenes. It's just a bit too silly one minute then too paranoid the next.

Trivia:
The film's villain, Dr. Hasslein, is briefly mentioned at the beginnings of the !~apes_1968~!~two~! !~apes_beneath~!~first~! films. SPOILER:The plague that killed all the dogs and cats and lead to the enslavement of all the apes is first mentioned in this film.:SPOILER `~1835~` found the make-up uncomfortable, so the script was re-written to kill his character off earlier than planned. Even though `~1527~` (Taylor) is not listed in the full cast/crew; he does appear in archive footage lifted from the conclusion of !~apes_1968~!~Planet of the Apes~! where he kisses Zira goodbye. That (color tinted) scene appears during Zira's interrogation, by government officials, while under the effects of sodium pentothal (a truth drug) that puts her in a dream state; thus resurrecting several brief glimpses of scenes taken from !~apes_1968~!~Planet of the Apes~! and !~apes_beneath~!~Beneath...~!.
