Random Trivia For This Title:

  • Mickey Rooney would later reprise his role of Santa Claus in two other Rankin-Bass specials, The Year Without a Santa Claus and Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July, and the sequel to Year without a Santa Claus, A Miser Brothers' Christmas (2008).
  • In the shooting script, the penguin's name was Topper and that was his name in the original broadcast. In some later broadcast versions, the penguin's name was changed to Waddles for unknown reasons. Current broadcasts and all home video releases have reverted the name back to Topper.
  • When the children are naming off Santa's reindeer, one of them refers to Blitzen as "Blitster". This was not corrected to make dialogue more endearing since young children often mispronounce words.
  • A Burgermeister is chairman of the executive council (or cabinet) in many towns and cities in Germany.
