Synopsis: Bob's wife is killed in a car accident, but her heart is donated to a special young woman.


Reaction: This is quite a touching little movie. The conversations, arguments and family life all have a very authentic feel to them.

Random Trivia For This Title:

  • Watch Bob's jacket on Grace's shoulders at the end of their first date. Her arms keep switching from inside the sleeves to simply under the jacket.
  • Bonnie Hunt's brother is a physician at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. He arranged for the hospital to be used as a setting in the film.
  • The zoo mailbox was a production prop that turned out to be a major headache, in that it necessitated the presence of a production staff member to prevent actual zoo attendees from depositing their mail in it.
  • This was Carroll O'Connor's last film.
  • Toward the end of the film when the nuns are admiring Grace's bike, one of them rings the bike's bell. The other nun exclaims, in Italian, "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets it wings", a reference to It's a Wonderful Life.
  • Bonnie Hunt's sister, Mary, appears uncredited as the woman lighting the candle in the church where Marty briefly kneels in prayer.
  • O'Reilly's Restaurant, where so much of the central action takes place, is actually a Chicago landmark eatery known as the "Twin Anchors".
