May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Synopsis: Jim longs for Pam. Michael longs in general. The office has evolved around them all but basically stays the same forever.

Reaction: Good season to follow up their first year.

Random Trivia For This Title:

  • On the episode {Drug Testing}, Jim's impression of Stanley in this episode was inspired by John Krasinski's actual talent of doing impressions on the set.
  • The first season was filmed in actual office space located just above a sound-stage at the Chandler Valley Center Studios. The sound-stage was often used to replicate the Dunder-Mifflin warehouse, most notably in the "Basketball" episode. For the second season, a near exact set replica of the original office was built on a sound-stage right next to the Warehouse set in the same building. There are some changes in the set between the first season and the subsequent ones. The exterior of the building is completely different in the first season than what's used after. Also, the wall in between Michael's office and the conference room (the one Andy punches a hole in) is much thinner in the first season. Also in the first season there is a door to the left of the break room door. Now there is just a door between Creed's desk and Oscar, Kevin, and Angela's island.
  • Anne Dudek, Ever Carradine, and [?] Mary Lynn Rajskub auditioned for the role of Pam.
  • Michael has a bandage around his finger in the episode {Dtug Testing} because Steve Carell hurt his finger during the week and was unable to remove his wedding ring due to the swelling. Instead of cutting off his ring, the crew simply wrapped a bandage around it.
  • Creed Bratton plays the bass with the band in the episode "Booze Cruise", saying he played with the Grass Roots. Creed Bratton actually played bass for the Grass Roots.
  • According to Michael Scott, on the episode {Michael's Birthday}, his birthday is March 15th, the same as [?] Eva Longoria.
  • Chili's public relations department was unhappy that Pam was shown getting drunk at their restaurant in the episode {The Dundies} and wanted the producers to remove the Chili's name from the episode. To assuage them, the writers added a line from an actor playing a Chili's employee, saying that Pam had violated their rules by taking drinks off other tables and was now banned from the franchise. In 2017, Fischer tweeted a photo of herself outside a Chili's, asking if she should go in. Chili's later sent out a mock press release, saying: Effective immediately, Chili'sŪ Grill & Bar has removed the longstanding ban on a Scranton, Pennsylvania woman who allegedly caused a disturbance during a company awards party held at a Chili's near the Pennsylvania town of Scranton. "After reviewing the good conduct of Pam, I have decided to lift the now 11-year ban," said Kelli Valade, President of Chili's. "Pam is an inspiration to many and we welcome her with open arms."
  • [?] Steve Carrell and Rob Riggle, who appear together in the episode {Booze Cruise}, both served as correspondents on [The Daily Show].
  • On the episode {Office Olympics}, Nancy Carell, wife of Steve Carell, appears as Michael Scott's realtor and eventual love interest beginning in this episode.
  • On the episode {Booze Cruise}, when Roy and Pam set the date of their wedding, the captain of the ship says he'll marry them right away. Pam disagrees with this because she wants her parents at her wedding. However, when Pam and Jim get married, they secretly marry on board "Maid of the Mist" without either of their parents present.
  • On the episode {The Fire}, Michael says, "Much advice you seek" in a Yoda voice, which Ryan mistakes for Fozzie Bear. Both characters are voiced by Frank Oz.
  • The episode {The Dundies} is the first episode where Jim and Pam kiss.
  • In {Performance Review}, where Dwight is sitting on an exercise ball and Jim pops it, you can see Jim jump out of the shot because he was laughing so much. The ball was supposed to slowly deflate, and in fact did just that on previous takes. But on that take, John happened to hit the seam and the ball just split in half.
  • The episode {Sexual Harassment}, is the first time John Krasinski makes his signature to-the-camera-face.
  • On the episode {Sexual Harassment}, Michael's uses his infamous "that's what she said" running joke for the first time.
