Synopsis: In a small Midwestern town, a troubled teen with homicidal tendencies must hunt down and destroy a supernatural killer whilst keeping his own inner demons at bay.

Reaction: Creepy, tense, and unique. I hate the phrase "the book was better" and here I'm not even tempted to use it. There are differences from the book, but the movie is a great telling of the story in its own right.

Personal Rating: 8/10

Random Trivia For This Title:

  • Based off the young adult novel series of the same name
  • The gameplay footage featured in the film comes from The Order: 1886 by developers Ready At Dawn. Interestingly, the game features a protagonist who battles against a hidden evil - mirroring somewhat the events of the film.
  • The author of the novel, Dan Wells, has a brief cameo as a police officer near the closing of the film.
  • The main character John Wayne Cleaver is named after real-life serial killer [?] John Wayne Gacy. Gacy worked as a clown, and in the movie, on Halloween, the main character even dresses up as a clown.
  • The film's star, Max Records, was backpacking in Europe and stopped to visit the director and was invited to assist with the creature puppetry.
