Synopsis: As the war of Panem escalates to the destruction of other districts, Katniss Everdeen, the reluctant leader of the rebellion, must bring together an army against President Snow, while all she holds dear hangs in the balance.

Reaction: Exciting and all, but I still don't think they had to split the last book into two movies. This one, at least, gives the payoff that they were building towards in the previous movie.

Random Trivia For This Title:

  • When doing interviews Jennifer Lawrence could say very little about the films as they filmed Mockingjay Part 1 and 2 at the same time.
  • Gwendoline Christie replaced actress [?] Lily Rabe as the Commander Lyme character in the film. Rabe was forced drop out due to a scheduling conflict with a previous commitment to perform in Much Ado about Nothing at Shakespeare in the Park.
  • Liam Hemsworth said that this film "might be the best in the series" and "never lets down" in its action. Despite the violent tone of the movie, there are actually only approximately 10 minutes of on-screen combat scenes.
  • This [Hunger Games] movie had the most visual effects out of all 4 movies. Thanks to Weta Digital who had worked on movies like Catching Fire, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy, Avatar, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, etc.
  • Gwendoline Christie and Natalie Dormer also co-star in [Game of Thrones (2011)].
  • The movie features two Academy Award nominees (Woody Harrelson and Stanley Tucci) and three Academy Award winners (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jennifer Lawrence and Julianne Moore). These five actors have a combined 16 nominations among them.
  • Philip Seymour Hoffman's final film. The scene where Haymitch reads Plutarch's letter to Katniss was scripted to be Plutarch talking to Katniss in person. It was changed because Philip Seymour Hoffman, who played Plutarch, died before the scene was filmed.
  • A crowd-pleasing moment at the end of the movie, that surprised even the filmmakers, is when Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) says goodbye to Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) by giving her a kiss on the lips. Woody and Elizabeth decided to do that unscripted.
  • In no part of the film is Katniss Everdeen ever seen with the red outfit that is seen on the movie poster.
  • In the epilogue, Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) wears a blonde wig for the first time. Hutcherson had dyed his hair blonde for all the [Hunger Games] movies and hated it a lot. Since the epilogue was shot months after principal shooting for Mockingjay Part 2 ended and the shooting only took a few days, Hutcherson decided not to dye his hair again and wore a wig instead.
  • The first time Pollux signs to Castor in this movie is when they reach the underground, and he says "home sweet home." When Katniss says goodbye to him at Tigris's shop, he signs, "No words never forget."
  • The final scene of Mockingjay Part 1, where Katniss wakes up and learns Peeta has been hijacked (after he tries to kill her) was originally intended to be the opening scene of this film, but during production, the filmmakers decided ending Part 1 after Peeta is knocked out by Boggs and the screen cuts to black was too big a cliffhanger for general audiences, so it was added after that instead.
