Trivia that mentions this person:
Dave [1993]
  • Kevin Kline got the part after Warren Beatty and Kevin Costner both turned it down.
    Dick Tracy [1990]
  • The highest-grossing film of Warren Beatty's career.
  • Warren Beatty originally wanted [?] Bob Fosse to direct, but Fosse turned him down. Martin Scorsese was also a fan of the comic strip and considered directing at one point, but he lost interest and chose to make Goodfellas.
  • During the make-up tests it was suggested that Warren Beatty be given the detective's famous hooked nose. But after some initial tests the make-up artists decided that it would have been a crime to hide one of the cinema's most famous faces behind putty and latex.
  • At the time of filming, Madonna had a relationship with Warren Beatty.
  • Dustin Hoffman made a cameo as Mumbles as a favor for Warren Beatty.
  • Danny Elfman was hired to compose the film score because Warren Beatty was impressed with his work on Batman. Of working with Beatty, Elfman has said "Warren was insane".
    Superman: The Movie [1978]
  • Numerous actors were considered for the part of Superman/Clark Kent: Warren Beatty, James Caan, Kris Kristofferson, Nick Nolte, Robert Redford, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jon Voight, with the front-runners being Nolte and Voight after the role was turned down by Beatty and Redford. Among the unknowns tested for the role were Ilya Salkind's wife's dentist (footage of the dentist testing for the part of Superman can, in fact, be seen in the supplemental section of the DVD). Eventually, the Salkinds cast an almost unknown actor they kept coming back to from earlier in their search - Christopher Reeve (who had only one other film and a television soap opera to his credit).
Superman: The Movie: Expanded Edition [2000]

    My Cousin Vinny [1992]
  • Shortly after her Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actress, a rumor started circulating that Marisa Tomei had won by mistake because presenter Jack Palance had incorrectly read out the wrong name. This is a highly unlikely occurrence--the Academy specifically has two officials stationed offstage to intervene and read out the correct name if such an event should ever transpire. Such an event didn't occur until the 2017 Academy Awards when Warren Beatty was given the wrong card and Faye Dunaway mistakenly announced La La Land as Best Picture, instead of the actual winner: Moonlight. The error was corrected on the telecast in about two minutes.
