Trivia that mentions this person:
Fantastic 4 [2005]
  • Although Stan Lee has made cameos in many Marvel movies, this is the first time he has played a character from the comics: Willy Lumpkin, the Fantastic Four's kindly old mailman.
Fantastic 4: The Rise of the Silver Surfer [2007]
  • Stan Lee plays a rejected wedding guest in a cameo, in a tribute to his own fictional comic book incarnation. It has become a tradition for Lee to have cameo appearances in live-action adaptations of his comics; he appeared in the first Fantastic Four film playing the Baxter Building's mailman, Willie Lumpkin.
  • The cameo scene where Stan Lee is refused entry to the wedding is in keeping with the comic series. In the 1960s story of Reed Richards and Susan Storm's wedding, two characters, obviously representing writer Stan Lee and artist/plotter Jack Kirby, are also not allowed to attend the wedding.
    Ghost Rider [2007]
  • One of the few Marvel Comic-based movies that Stan Lee does not appear in. He had absolutely no involvement in the creation of the original Ghost Rider.
    The Incredible Hulk [2008]
  • Paul Soles who portrays "Stanley", the owner of the pizza shop, provided the voice for Dr. Bruce Banner in the 1960s [Hulk] animated series. The character's name may also be another tribute to Hulk co-creator Stan Lee.
    Iron Man [2008]
  • EASTER EGG: In the Region 1 DVD disc 1, Special Features section, there is a hidden circle icon (not Iron Man's arc generator, oddly enough) between the "Previews" and "Main Menu" items (on a DVD remote, highlight "Main Menu", then go left). Press Enter to see a video of Stan Lee and Robert Downey Jr. discussing Lee's cameo in the film.
    Spider-Man 2 [2004]
  • Stan Lee originally filmed the cameo of the man who shouts: "Hey, Spider-Man stole that guy's pizza!" But because of problems with the shot it was re-filmed with another actor, and Lee was given a different (but heroic) cameo.
    X-Men: First Class [2011]
  • This is only the second time in a Marvel film since X2 where Stan Lee has not had a cameo appearance.
    Blade [1998]
  • Stan Lee originally had a cameo that was ultimately cut from the film. He played one of the cops that come in to the blood club during the aftermath and discover Quinn's body on fire.
    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 [2014]
  • The humorously hateful news boss J. Jonah Jameson, one of the most iconic characters in Spider-man's mythos, was never mentioned in The Amazing Spider-Man. In this sequel he is spoken of frequently but never appears. The producers claimed they could not find an actor to measure up to J.K. Simmons' legendary portrayal of this character in Sam Raimi's Spider-man films. Stan Lee, the writer who came up with the idea for these characters and makes cameo appearances in all the films, has often said he would volunteer to play Jameson if he (Lee) were 30 or 40 years younger.
    Fant4stic [2015]
  • When asked about his opinion on the Human Torch being black, Stan Lee said he very much approved.
    Doctor Strange [2016]
  • Doctor Strange's creators, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, based his appearance on Hollywood actor Vincent Price. The character even bears the middle name of Vincent.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 [2017]
  • James Gunn previously said that Stan Lee's cameo in this film is one of the four Lee cameos filmed in one day. In addition to this film, Gunn directed two other cameos, one being Doctor Strange, and another one in which he did not specify.
    Venom [2018]
  • The 2nd final film featuring a Stan Lee cameo to be released during his lifetime, before his death on November 12, 2018. His final cameo is in Avengers 4. He has already shot his scene.
    Once Upon a Deadpool [2018]
  • In the post-credit-scene of the Christmas family friendly version Once upon a Deadpool, a tribute to Stan Lee is included, with his year of birth incorrectly stated to be 1923 when its actually the year before 1922.
    Ant-Man and the Wasp [2018]
  • Stan Lee: When Wasp is firing shrinking disks at her pursuers, she accidentally shrinks the Ant-Man co-creator's car; Stan then says in response, "The 60s were fun, but now I'm paying for it" (thinking he's having an "acid flashback" - hallucinating from the drugs he used to use). Ironically, during the 60s, Stan was a huge opponent of recreational drugs, and even published such anti-drug messages within his comic books.
    Captain Marvel [2019]
  • When Stan Lee makes his cameo, he is seen reading the script for Kevin Smith's Mallrats(1995) and reciting the line, "Trust me true believer". As revealed on Smith's YouTube page, Stan's health was in decline and he could not muster his trademark enthusiasm so the producers looped in Lee's unused audio from Mallrats.
    Ralph Breaks the Internet [2018]
  • A non-speaking Stan Lee avatar can be seen in a brief cameo while traversing the Internet.
    Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse [2018]
  • If you hit pause anytime a train goes, because all the animators wanted to animate Stan Lee, he's in almost every single train.
  • It was announced shortly after Stan Lee's death, at age 95, that he had recorded a cameo for the film and that it would be his final voice-acting role. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller felt it was important that Lee was given a bigger moment compared to previous Marvel films because he was "so integral to the spirit of this movie," and considered his role "extra meaningful" following his death.
  • This film was dedicated in memory of Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko, who died on July 6, 2018, while this film was finishing production. However, this was not the only dedication, as a month before the film was released, Stan Lee died on November 12, 2018. The film was dedicated to both of Spider-Man's creators.
  • Stan Lee's cameo as J. Jonah Jameson is a reference to his long-standing claims that Jameson is an exaggerated potshot at himself.
    Avengers: Endgame [2019]
  • The final cameo by Stan Lee in a Marvel film.
