    Armageddon [1998]
  • Director Michael Bay had the actors write their list of demands on the papers that Bruce Willis read from.
    Die Hard [1988]
  • The original poster for the film did not feature Bruce Willis' likeness, just the building. The producers originally thought it might deter non-Willis fans from seeing the movie. Posters were later altered after the early box office success.
  • Bruce Willis personally recommended Bonnie Bedelia for the role of his estranged wife.
  • Bruce Willis received a then unheard of $5 million, a fee that was OK'd by [?] Rupert Murdoch. Bruce and Demi Moore tied the knot at the Golden Nugget hotel in Las Vegas during this shoot, Moore having recently broken her engagement to actor Emilio Estevez. Little Richard presided over the ceremony and former brat packer Ally Sheedy was a bridesmaid.
Die Hard 2: Die Harder [1990]
  • This is Bruce Willis's least favorite film of the original Die Hard trilogy.
  • The scenes with Bruce Willis running through tunnels under the airport were filmed at a water treatment facility near Los Angeles. The facility has miles of underground tunnels, and was also used in Live Free or Die Hard, doubling as the Woodlawn Social Security Administration building.
    The Fifth Element [1997]
  • Early in the film, Gary Oldman's character quotes [?] Friedrich Nietzsche, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." Oldman's costar, Bruce Willis, released a record album on Motown Records with that title in the 1980s.
  • The hero (Bruce Willis) and the villain (Gary Oldman) never meet, nor do they communicate in any way.
  • Bruce Willis ad-libbed the line, "Whoa, lady, I only speak two languages, English and bad English."
    Ghost [1990]
  • Producers originally offered the role of Sam to Bruce Willis, Demi's husband at the time. But he turned it down, because he didn't think the film would work.
  • When it came time to cast the film, writer Bruce Joel Rubin suggested Patrick Swayze for the role of Sam Wheat. Director Jerry Zucker felt that Swayze was completely wrong for the part. Many actors that included Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Kevin Bacon, Al Pacino, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin were all offered the part but all turned it down feeling that playing a ghost would be cheesy. Zucker then decided to audition Swayze though he thought he would blow the audition. To Zucker's surprise, Swayze did a great audition and he was cast immediately in the part.
Live Free or Die Hard [2007]
  • When McClane is driving toward the helicopter, he says, "You think a traffic jam, throwing a car at me is gonna stop me, huh?" Director Len Wiseman dubbed the last part of this line ("Gonna stop me"), imitating the voice of Bruce Willis.
  • Scott Speedman was Len Wiseman's first choice for the role of Matt Farell whereas Ben Affleck was Bruce Willis' first choice for the role. Willis wanted Affleck in order to recreate the chemistry between two characters previously accomplished in Armageddon
  • According to Bruce Willis and Director Len Wiseman in the DVD Commentary, the story originally involved McClane's son, Jack. Originally, he was supposed to be the computer hacker John has to deliver to the FBI. Eventually that idea was dropped and the hacker became the Matt Ferrell character. It was then decided to bring in his daughter Lucy to keep up the series continuity of McLane always having a personal stake in what happens in the story.
Live Free or Die Hard: Double Version [2007]
  • A water treatment facility near Los Angeles doubled as the film's Woodlawn Social Security Administration building. The facility has miles of underground tunnels, and was also used in Die Hard 2 when Bruce Willis runs through tunnels under the airport.
  • When McClane is driving toward the helicopter, he says, "You think a traffic jam, throwing a car at me is gonna stop me, huh?" Director Len Wiseman dubbed the last part of this line ("Gonna stop me"), imitating the voice of Bruce Willis.
Live Free or Die Hard: Unrated Version [2007]
  • When filming the scenes of John walking through the corridors talking to Gabriel on the two-way, there were no written lines of dialog for Bruce Willis, according to Len Wiseman on the DVD Commentary. So what they did on set was have Willis hold the two-way up to his mouth and speak gibberish so it looks like he's talking to Gabriel. If you'll notice, there are a couple of times where the two-way isn't all the way up to Willis's face and you can see his mouth doesn't match the dialog being spoken.
  • [?] Jessica Simpson auditioned unsuccessfully for the role of Bruce Willis' daughter. She can be seen on the way to the audition and coming out of the audition in [Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica] episode {Mismatched Threesome}.
  • Kevin Smith rewrote the lines for his Warlock character. Bruce Willis thought the rewrite was too funny and did not follow the serious mood of the movie. Smith then rewrote the part to what Willis requested.

  • M. Night Shyamalan wrote the role of Malcolm Crowe with Bruce Willis in mind.
  • This was the first of two movies that Bruce Willis owed Disney after he caused another production, The Broadway Brawler, to be shut down due to him firing the director. He also was paid $10 million, half of his usual salary at the time.
  • While circling a passage in the notes, Bruce Willis does so with his right hand. Bruce Willis is actually left-handed; he learned how to write right-handed so that viewers wouldn't notice that his wedding band was no longer on his hand. Willis also draws the circle clockwise (like a left-handed person would), while most right-handed people would draw it counter-clockwise.
  • In the scene when Cole says the famous line "I see dead people", the camera does a closeup on Bruce Willis face. Producer Frank Marshall was worried that might have given the game away. It implied that Malcolm was a dead person. Fortunately, none of the audiences in the test screenings or afterwards picked up on it.
    Ocean's Twelve [2004]
  • Because Julia Roberts' character Tess pretends to be Julia Roberts during Ocean's Twelve, the movie contains several subtle references to her previous movies. These include: the appearance of Bruce Willis, who recognizes Julia Roberts because they costarred in the fake movie within a movie in The Player; Linus mistakenly thinking that the real Julia Roberts had been in Four Weddings and a Funeral, when she was actually in Notting Hill, another [?] Richard Curtis movie in which she played a Julia Roberts-like actress (much as she does here); and Tess being incarcerated with prostitutes, a reference to Pretty Woman.
  • Bruce Willis, who appears as himself in the film, was originally signed to play Danny Ocean in Ocean's Eleven, but pulled out due to scheduling conflicts.
A Good Day to Die Hard [2013]
  • Bruce Willis is the only actor to appear in all five [Die Hard] films. Furthermore, he is also the only person on the crew to be involved in the making of all five films.
  • This is the first "Die Hard" film where Bruce Willis' character does not kill the main antagonist.
  • Bruce Willis has openly stated he would like to bring back Bonnie Bedelia to the series. She originally played the character of Holly Gennaro McClane, the wife of Bruce Willis' character John McClane in the first two films of the [Die Hard] series, but didn't appear in the last two.
  • This is the first [Die Hard] sequel since part 2 where a performer (besides Bruce Willis) has reprised their role in an obligatory cameo. Mary Elizabeth Winstead reprises her role of Lucy McClane from Live Free Or Die Hard. Besides Winstead and Willis, the only other actors to appear more than once in the "Die Hard" films are Reginald VelJohnson, William Atherton, and Bonnie Bedelia (who all appeared in the first two entries), Anthony Peck who played a young cop in the first and Ricky Walsh in the third film and Aldis Hodge who played Zeus' nephew Raymond in Die Hard: With a Vengeance, and CIA Agent Foxy in this film (wearing military fatigues and telling Jack his window for extraction is lost).
    Over the Hedge [2006]
  • Bruce Willis replaced Jim Carrey as the voice of RJ.
    Fant4stic [2015]
  • Originally, the film was meant to be titled Fantastic Four: Reborn. David Yates was in negotiations to direct, with Adrien Brody as Reed Richards, Alice Eve as Sue Storm and either Bruce Willis or Kiefer Sutherland to voice The Thing, but the project fell apart.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 [2017]

    The Expendables 2 [2012]
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger, in this film says "Yippie Kai Yay", (a reference to Bruce Willis's role in Die Hard as John McClane), after he says "I'll be back", when Bruce Willis steals his line. Arnold was considered for the role of John McClane in Die Hard along with Sylvester Stallone himself.
    The Expendables 3 [2014]
  • Bruce Willis was set to reprise his role of Mr. Church, at a salary of three million dollars (750,000 dollars per day for four consecutive days). When he demanded one million dollars per day instead, Sylvester Stallone and the producers refused, and he left the film. Within three days, Stallone was able to get Harrison Ford to replace the Church role as a new character. Ford's "short notice" quip, as used in the trailer, alludes to these events (which were well publicized long before the film premiered).
    Deadpool 2 [2018]
  • Dolph Lundgren, Mel Gibson, Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis, Alec Baldwin, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Pierce Brosnan and David Harbour were all considered for the role of Cable.
    Glass [2019]
  • Towards the end of the movie, it is revealed that Elijah (Samuel L. Jackson) was also responsible for the death of Kevin's (James McAvoy) father, an event that ultimately forced Kevin to stay with his abusive mother, a situation which caused Kevin to form his multiple personalities. In the movie; Unbreakable, David (Bruce Willis) bumps a woman holding a boy's hand at the stadium. This bump triggers a reaction in David, helping him hear the scream of the boy (possibly Kevin) who was being abused.
